Why Hello There!

Category: Getting to Know You

Post 1 by Tally (Newborn Zoner) on Sunday, 07-Jun-2015 18:32:55

Hello everyone, I'm Tally.

Currently, I live in Michigan with my beloved guide dog and family. In August, my pup and I are moving to Ohio to start graduate school, a very exciting transition for me! I'm looking forward to my program in Clinical Counseling and exploring Columbus with my faithful pup.

My focus within psychology and counseling has been developing effective assessment and treatment tools for clinicians and clients with physical disabilities. I find this work extremely meaningful as both a mental health service consumer, and a future provider.

I also have a deep love for reading and writing, and a passion for animals. My reading interests include series by J.D. Robb, King, and other assorted authors. I've been working on a writing project for the past ten years that has developed a life of its own, growing into a world of characters I've become extremely attached to. In the animal realm, I've been blessed with the opportunity to work with some outstanding horses over the past twelve years who have taught me more about myself than any textbook ever could.

For those watching BBC Sherlock or Criminal Minds, feel free to geek with me! I'm caught up on Sherlock, but only in Season 5 of Criminal Minds.

Well, that's a start I suppose. Please feel free to get in touch, I promise my pup and I don't bite! I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you here on the boards!

Hello Forereel!

Nah, my pup and I have both been fed tonight. We're not hungry, so you're probably safe from biting for now!
Smile!

Hello Tally

My name is Becky, and I've lived in Columbus most of my life. Will you be doing your graduate work at Ohio State or a smaller college?

Let me know if I can answer any questions about Columbus. I come on here to read boards and play games but don't socialize much anymore. But you can always send me a PM (private message) if you have any questions.

Hi Blue Velvet! I will in fact be in Columbus as OSU, I'm just waiting to get my final confirmation for on campus housing. I can't wait to get to know a new city, and will absolutely get in touch with questions, thanks so much!

And hello Leaffan, nice to meet you!

Hello Talli. Wonderful to see a descriptive and thoughtful introduction. I already know more about you than many of the people I've seen on here for the past few years.

My name is Remy and I live in Canada with my wife and daughter. I too am an avid reader and writer and, like you, I've been working on a couple of books in a series with characters which have evolved tremendously over the years. I'm also dabbling heavily in audio producing and designing and have produced a couple chapters of my writing in full audio with narration, voice acting, sound effects and music. it's in both the fantasy and science-fiction genres, so if that interests you at all, I'm always looking for constructive critisism. it can be found at the following link:

I hope you find a pleasant experience here. You'll meet all sorts here from the very kind, to the childishly cruel.

Post 8 by CrazyMusician (If I don't post to your topic, it's cuz I don't give a rip about it!) on Wednesday, 10-Jun-2015 11:43:15

Welcome, Tally! Call me Kate. I, too, live in Canada, with my husband, three cats and guide dog. I work for an IT company at their help desk, and enjoy many varied hobbies, from goalball and running to reading and making jewelry.

Hope you enjoy your time here!

Welcome Tally.

Thanks for a very descriptive intro.

I was in Columbus ages ago, and found it a very interesting city.

Anyway, welcome to the zone. Just remember, the zone is an entertainment, not a way of life.

Hi there Tally. SO I'm not the only one to realize leaving Michigan is a good idea? LOL. Actually, I had considered moving back at one time, but I'm back in New York instead. Your graduate school experiences should be more interesting than mine, I came back to MI to do my masters at Western Michigan. Now, I'm the coordinator for a program for New York state which distributes telecommunications equipment to people who are deaf-blind and have low income. I dabbled in psychology and counseling for awhile, and may get back to it some day, but giving away free stuff and showing people how to use their free stuff is pretty darn rewarding for me at this time.
Congratulations on getting in to grad school, and on moving onward and upward! Just be careful, I remember attending a conferenfe at OSU a few years back, and I really should have packed an extra liver to accommodate all of the bars on campus.
I also write some, primarily short stories, and read a lot. Everything from murder mysteries to professional journals, because I'm a nerd, and that's what nerds do. Welcome aboard the boards!

Scott

Hi there. Welcome to the nuthouse, oops, I meant the Zone.
I live in Fort Worth Texas with my son, our 2 cats, and my x-husband's retired guide. lol
I'm about to start post-graduate studies in teaching adult learners. Right now, I'm just going for a certification but I may end up going for the graduate degree in curriculum instruction. I just found that one the other night so I'm still looking into it. Ultimately, I'm planning to teach at the community college level or in the community through the VA or Workforce Centers.
Most of my hobbies right now revolve around my son and also rediscovering myself since becoming single again after 15 years. lol
Good luck with your move.
